One-time economic leader Larry Summers is exiting the governing body at OpenAI, just days after a collection of electronic messages between him and notorious criminal the accused trafficker became widely known.

He commented in a release that he was "appreciative for the privilege to have participated, excited about the prospects of the company, and anticipate observing their development".

The prominent academic, who formerly led Harvard University, declared on earlier this week that he would be withdrawing from public roles due to his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
