'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Unaccounted For Young People Await Answers After Alpine Blaze

The families of young people missing after a deadly inferno at a venue in a Swiss winter destination are enduring an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and appealing for information about their family members publicly.

The blaze ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Confirmed video show the roof structure igniting as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which killed 40 people and hurt another 119. Authorities stated on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with work continuing to name the final individuals.

In the waiting period, families and friends have been posting on online platforms to request any news about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The location of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his family.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had gone out with a group and found himself at the venue.

"Someone with him told me they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his educators said, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, combined with great responsibility. Every time ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to media.

Her sibling has published an urgent request on social media, saying the family has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the developments.
