Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans shared sympathy for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
